  • Second weekly adult literacy class added

    Literacy VolunteersThe Atlantic City Free Public Library and Literacy Volunteers Association Cape-Atlantic are now offering a second adult literacy class - beginning Monday, April 18 - for individuals who need help with their reading and writing skills. The new Monday class is for adults on a first grade reading level or lower, while the Tuesday class is for adults reading at a fifth grade level or lower. Click here to read more.

    The Atlantic City Free Public Library was saddened to hear about the passing of its former Library Director Richard Sweeney, who died on May 19. He was appointed Director in 1971 and held that position until 1976. Click here to read more.

Get your free tickets to Oct. 31 Halloween Laser Light Show

pumpkinAtlantic City Free Public Library members searching for an entertaining, unique and safe activity this Halloween are in for a treat.
“Mad Science: A Halloween Laser Light Show” will be held 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, at Dante Hall Theater, located at 14 North Mississippi Ave., in Atlantic City. The one-hour show is sponsored by the Atlantic City Free Public Library, City of Atlantic City and Dante Hall Theater.
Set to Halloween-themed music, moving images made of light will be projected throughout the room. This laser spectacle will be created with a single beam. Attendees will learn about the science of optics and the human eye.
Each Atlantic City Library member, regardless of age, is eligible to receive two tickets for free admission. Library members must bring their Atlantic City Library card to the Youth Services desk at the Main Library (One North Tennessee Ave.) to receive their tickets. Ticket supplies are limited. Children 12 years of age and younger must be accompanied to the Halloween Laser Light Show by a parent or guardian. Those interested in attending should not be afraid of the dark.
