Copy & Research Fees

Patrons researching Atlantic City history and topics related to Atlantic City are encouraged to visit the Atlantic City Free Public Library in person to conduct research using the resources in the Atlantic City Heritage Collections. Please note our open research hours. Appointments are also available with advance notice. If you are unable to visit in person, limited research assistance is available. Please fill out the Archival Materials Order Form (PDF) and mail it with your payment.

Because of the nature of archival research, we do not accept rush orders, and questions are answered in the order in which they are received.

Please consult with the Librarian before copying any items from the Atlantic City Heritage Collections. Researchers wishing to scan materials themselves must also consult with the Librarian. Contact the Librarian for information about licensing and publishing items from the Collection.

On-site, researchers have access to the following resources for free:
Newspaper articles Researchers may consult the full-text database Newsbank (1988-present) and the Online Local News Index (1984-present). The Library holds microfilm copies of The Press of Atlantic City (from 1895-present with some exceptions) and other newspapers. These resources are available whenever the Library is open.
City Directories Researchers may view microfilmed directories and select bound copies in the open shelves. These resources are available whenever the Library is open.
Photographs and Postcards To view these items, please visit the Heston Room during research hours or make an appointment to use the collection.
Historical Information and Research Researchers may visit the Heston Room during research hours or may make an appointment in advance to use the collection at other times.
