Celebrate National Library Week April 10-16

As it does throughout the year, the Atlantic City Free Public Library is offering a wide range of programs during National Library Week. All programs are at the Main Library unless noted:
• Food for Fines from April 11-16 — Library members with overdue materials can make a food donation at the library in lieu of paying a fine. For each non-perishable item donated, the accrued fines for one overdue item will be waived. The food will be donated to the Community Food Bank – Southern Branch.
• Walk-in Job Skills Lab on Monday, April 11, at 10 a.m. — Search and apply for jobs online, create a resume, study for work-related exams and more with assistance from the library’s trained staff.
• Computer Class: Google Docs on Monday, April 11, at 1 p.m. — Explore Google Docs, a free web-based word processor. Learn how to create, edit, format, download, and print documents by making a resume and cover letter. Resume and cover letter templates will be provided.
• Teen Smash Bros Gaming Mondays on Monday, April 11, at 3 p.m. — Practice up for library tournaments or challenge friends.
• Film Society: Class on Movie Spoofs on Monday, April 11, at 5:30 p.m. — This classroom session will focus on the history of this specific sub-genre of comedy films.
• Adult Literacy Class: Basic Reading and Writing on Tuesday, April 12, at 10 a.m. — The library and Literacy Volunteers Association Cape-Atlantic are offering a basic adult literacy class for adults who need help with their reading and writing skills. A Literacy Volunteer teaches the class.
• Intermediate English as a Second Language (ESL) on Tuesday, April 12, at 1 p.m. — Listen, read, practice conversation, learn writing techniques, new vocabulary, pronunciation and proper grammar. All levels of ESL students are welcome to attend.
• Computer Class: Basic Internet and Typing Skills on Tuesday, April 12, at 5 p.m. — Learn the basics of the Internet and typing, how to access different websites and perform searches.
• Pre-school Rhyme Time on Thursday, April 14, at 10:30 a.m. — Rhyme Time is for children ages 3 to 5. It features stories, songs and simple crafts.
• Baby Bounce and Play Group on Thursday, April 14, at 11:30 a.m. — This program introduces infants to the world of sounds and stories. It helps build important pre-reading skills for ages 0 to 2.
• Lee’s Circus Extravaganza on Thursday, April 14, at 3 p.m. — This program for children and teens features a kaleidoscope of juggling, plate spinning, unicycling, audience interaction and magic.
• LEGO Club at Richmond Branch Library on Friday, April 15, at 4:30 p.m. — Kids use the library’s LEGOs and their imagination to construct unique designs.
• Crafty Saturdays at Richmond Branch Library on Saturday, April 16, at 11 a.m. — Children have the opportunity to make a seasonal or holiday-themed craft to take home.
• Teen Button Making on Saturday, April 16, at 2 p.m. – Teens will learn how to create their own buttons and can make up to three buttons of their own.
• Eddie Morgan Trio Jazz Concert on Saturday, April 16, at 2 p.m. — The Eddie Morgan Trio wraps up National Library Week with a free concert, which will highlight jazz legends such as Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, Clifford Brown, Lee Morgan and Freddie Hubbard. The Trio plays a mix of standards and funky original renditions of pop and R&B favorites. Ballads and Latin tunes will round out the selections. This event is also in celebration of Jazz Appreciation Month.
