You are eligible for a free membership and a library card if you live in Atlantic County!

As a result of borrowing agreements with other local libraries, residents of Ocean City and Avalon may also apply for free membership. If you live outside Atlantic County, Ocean City, or Avalon, you may become a member of the Library by paying an annual subscriber fee. Currently, the fee is $30.00.

Membership applications are available at the Main Library (One North Tennessee Avenue), or you can request an application for a card online.

Children and young adults under the age of 18 years old must have a parent or guardian's signature on the membership application.

The card is intended for your use only. It is not transferable. Cards are valid for one year and must be renewed annually.

REGULAR MEMBERSHIP

If you are a resident of one of the above localities, bring two of the following items to verify your residency to the Main Library (One North Tennessee Avenue) or Richmond Branch (Ventnor and Windsor Avenues).

  • A valid New Jersey Driver's License or non-driver's license issued by the New Jersey Department of Transportation
  • A valid Atlantic County Identification Card
  • A valid NJ Casino Control Commission License
  • A valid Voter Registration Card that states your name and address
  • A computer-generated bank statement, major credit card statement, utility bill, or federal/state agency mail postmarked within the last 30 Days
  • A tax receipt for the current year (must show address)

After you complete a membership application and show your proof of residency, you will receive your library card.  (Note: Children and students under the age of 18 must have a parent's signature on the membership application.)

COMPUTER CARD MEMBERSHIP

 

The Atlantic City Free Public Library will require a library card of all computer users starting March 22, 2010. The Computer Card Membership has been created for individuals who are only interested in using our Visitor computers. Patrons must choose between the Regular Membership or the Computer Card Membership. They cannot have both cards.

1 Valid Photo ID from the following list:

 

Driver’s License

County ID with address or DMV ID card

Casino Control Commission License

Passport

 

 

OR

 

 

1 Current Photo ID AND 1 Secondary Proof of Residency

 

Secondary Proofs of residency include:

A Computer generated bill from a credit card, government, medical or utility agency postmarked in the past 30 days.

A Voter registration card with name and address shown.

Tax receipt

Mailed library application postmarked in the past 30 days.

 

 

SUBSCRIBER MEMBERSHIP

If you live outside of Atlantic City or Atlantic County, and do not reside in Ocean City or Avalon, you have the option of paying an annual fee of $30.00 a year for a subscriber membership.  You will need to show proof of residency when you complete your membership application and pay the fee.
