Local leaders, public attend Richmond Branch ceremony
A short ceremony included remarks by Mayor Lorenzo T. Langford, Library Director Maureen Sherr Frank, board members Curene Clark Ervin and Donna Haye, and former long-time Richmond Branch Library coordinator Theda Bradley.
The library provided a Richmond Branch at the original Richmond Avenue School from July 1923-July 2009. The school was demolished in ’09 after voters approved a referendum earlier that year to build new Richmond and Pennsylvania avenue schools.
The new Richmond Branch Library is 3,000 square feet – five times larger than the previous branch. The increased size allows the library to offer programs, more public computers and an expanded selection of resources.
