Main Library, Richmond Branch to host Hispanic Heritage Month programs

The Atlantic City Free Public Library has scheduled a variety of programs at the Main Library and Richmond Branch Library in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs Sept. 15-Oct. 15.

View “Latino Americans: The 500-Year Legacy That Shaped a Nation”
Sept. 15-Oct. 15
The library will show this six-hour PBS documentary on the Main Library’s first floor throughout Hispanic Heritage Month during normal library hours.

Adult Craft Circle: Talavera-inspired Ceramic Mugs
Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 3 p.m.
Participants will use markers to decorate ceramic coffee mugs with Talavera-inspired patterns. Talavera is a type of fine Mexican earthenware featuring colored decoration on an opaque white glaze, named after Talavera de la Reina, the Spanish town where this variety of pottery originated. Bilingual Story Time
Thursday, Sept. 26, at 10:30 a.m.
A bilingual library staff member will read Eric Carle’s “From Head to Toe” in English and Spanish.

Día de la Música Latina
Friday, Oct. 11, from 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
The Main Library will play different types of Hispanic music over its public-address system throughout the day.

Kids Craft: Day of the Dead Mask
Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 3:30 p.m.
Children ages 6-12 are invited to make a Day of the Dead mask. All supplies provided.

Bilingual Story Time
Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 2 p.m.
A bilingual library staff member will read Eric Carle’s “From Head to Toe” in English and Spanish.

Concert by Ana Gayoso and Manuel Aparicio
Thursday, Oct. 3, at 5 p.m.
The library will hold its first concert ever at the Richmond Branch Library. The one-hour concert will feature guitarists Ana Gayoso (pictured above) and Manuel Aparicio, who will perform classical and popular Spanish music.
